Dear Club Member,

It has come to our attention that a few members have been signing up for diving trips/ courses and then dropping out of these trips / courses at short notice and refusing to pay the cost.

The result of these actions has been additional stress for the trip / course organiser and more importantly those on the trip, who have had the burden of paying a share of the missing person's fee.

To remind club members or inform those who may be unaware it has always been the club rule that once you sign up for a club trip / course, if you are unable to attend, the onus is on you to find a replacement or pay the full cost of the trip / course - you do not just lose the deposit as some members appear to believe.

As a committee we have been forced into issuing this notice as hardworking members who have organised these activities are disgruntled and may be reluctant to plan further trips.

A Note from Dave Noblett, Equipment Officer

As most of you will know I am now the new club equipment  officer.   I have spoken in the last committee about some  changes that will improve the way the club RIB is booked  out and maintained.

How to book Rib out.

1.Ring, email or see me at club to book.  (As usual club trips  take priority)

2.Thursday before your trip a check list will completed by my  self or Rob and yourself e.g. trip  organiser. The check  list will include general condition of boat and engines,  props are OK. That the petrol tanks full, oil, flares,  O2 kit full, shots line and buoys etc.

3.You can then collect electrics and boat key, and sign that  every thing is ok and ready for sea. Colin the D.O. will  also need to sign this check sheet.

4.During the week preferably before Thursday the boat washed and  engine flush with fresh water.

5.On the Thursday after your trip a check list (all of the  above) will be done again to check all is well and the  boat then could sign off.  If there is a problem with  the boat you need to contact me a.s.a.p so it can be sorted out before next trip.

6.If damage is caused to the props by bad seamanship the crew of  that trip will be expected to pay for repair or  replacement. The reasons behind this are so everyone  looks after OUR clubs equipment and assets.
