Luton BSAC was formed in 1960, the club can be found on a Thursday night at Wardown Park Swimming and Leisure Centre on Bath Road off the main A6 in Luton.(See map for more details). Use of the pool is from 9.00 P.M. until 10.30 P.M, there is a desk setup at approximately 8.30 to deal with diving related inquires. Afterwards we all retreat to the bar upstairs to socialise, plan diving trips, outings and social events. Luton BSAC is a diving club with a good social scene for those non-diving partners or friends. Pool use is not solely restricted to diving on a Thursday night, friends and family are welcome to join in for a relaxing swim or just a drink at the bar.
There are many good reasons why prospective divers should learn to dive in a club environment.
Advantages of BSAC Club Membership
1) Learn to dive within flexible time scales. Not profit driven. No "new group" to teach next week
2) Membership of club includes access to free advice on diving matters, monthly magazine and third party insurance.
3) Membership of club gives access to low cost trips (RIB/Hard boat)
4) Get to know a group of fellow divers for diving and social activities
5) More likely to find a diving buddy of similar experience & qualifications, for training & actual diving. This means both divers will also be aware of each other's strengths & weaknesses when diving together.
6) A more cost-effective way to learn to dive
7) The BSAC training system specifically geared to UK Open Water Diving and considered more comprehensive/safer then other agencies
8) Advanced training offers more variety than other agencies. (Boat Handling/ chart work/ expedition planning to unfamiliar locations etc)
Disadvantages of BSAC Club Membership
1) Can take a long time to qualify, depending on ability.
